Promissory Note Status Information
If you purchased your Below-Market-Rate (BMR) home with City Down Payment Assistance (DAP) or similar program support, you signed a promissory note as part of your closing documents. This note is a legal promise to repay the assistance, usually when you sell, refinance, or no longer live in the home as your primary residence.
To check the current status of your promissory note, you must:
1. Contact Your Program Administrator or City
Your program administrator (HouseKeys) and/or the city manages the records for your BMR home and any city promissory notes tied to it. Please reach out by submitting a ticket using the Form below.
Include your name, property address, and any program ID if available.
2. Ask for the Balance and Terms
Request a current balance statement or status update on your promissory note. You can ask:
What is my current balance or payoff amount?
What triggers repayment?
Are there any deferral or forgiveness terms?
3. Review Your Original Documents
If you still have your closing documents from when you purchased your home, locate the City Promissory Note. This outlines the loan terms, interest (if any), and repayment triggers.
4. Ask About a Payoff or Subordination Request (if needed)
If you’re looking to sell or refinance, the escrow company will need to request a payoff demand or subordination. Your administrator will walk you through those next steps.
To request the status of your promissory note, please submit a ticket using the Formstack below.
