Transfer Information
A transfer typically refers to the sale, inheritance, or legal change of ownership of the property from one party to another.
Because deed restrictions or affordable housing agreements govern BMR homes, any transfer must follow specific rules set by the city or housing program. This includes:
Notifying the city or program administrator before any transfer occurs
Ensuring the new owner meets income eligibility requirements (for a resale) or qualifies under the program guidelines for transfers
Selling the home at the restricted affordable price is required before the sale. You cannot sell at market value.
Must obtain approval for the transfer, especially in cases of inheritance, marriage/divorce, or adding/removing someone from the title. To do so, you must:
Contact the program administrator (HouseKeys).
The request is processed and reviewed alongside the restrictions to determine if it is a prohibited or viable transfer
Once the transfer has been approved, the transfer process begins. This process will vary depending on the type of transfer.
