Transfer Information


A transfer typically refers to the sale, inheritance, or legal change of ownership of the property from one party to another.

Because deed restrictions or affordable housing agreements govern BMR homes, any transfer must follow specific rules set by the city or housing program. This can include:

  • Notifying the city or program administrator before the transfer occurs

  • Ensuring the new owner meets income eligibility requirements

  • Selling the home at the restricted, affordable price—not at market value

  • Obtaining approval for the transfer, especially in cases of gifting, inheritance, or adding/removing someone from the title
